Datalogging In Bolivia by

Collecting data in Bolivia, South
America for an Extended Project into how UV radiation
varies with altitude has been the experience of a
lifetime. Standing beneath the scorching midday sun in
the bustling city of La Paz did not fail to attract the
attention of people passing by as they observed the
strange blue gadget held up in the air. The project
involved taking readings at various altitudes and,
therefore, included a hike to the Andes.
The portability
of the datalogger and sensors enabled me to reach Mount
Chacaltaya, 5300m, comfortably and with ease, requiring
only a rucksack to carry all the necessary materials.

Writhlington School
Orchid Project
The Writhlington School Orchid
Project team have recently returned from a visit to
Laos. The team took a ScienceScope datalogger and a
humidity sensor to measure conditions in the rainforest.
We are currently recording humidity,
light and temperature levels in the Writhlington School
Orchid house to compare the conditions with Laos. The
results will follow in the next newsletter.
